Family summer holidays in Austria at Lürzerhof Alpin Life Resort
Let the fun begin.
The biggest adventure playground of them all doesn’t have any fences, though it does boast giant sand boxes and tall trees to climb. It is filled with paddling pools that are crystal-clear and refreshing, with stone castles, the world’s best hiding places and deep caves, with playthings that can be carved, used to build dams or be collected. This playground is found amid the natural landscapes of Salzburg – here, there are essentially no limits and everyone is invited to be a part of the healthy activities in the fresh air. For families, our region is a true paradise for summer holidays in the mountains. Every outing, every short hike, and all of that running and tumbling in the fields, has positive effects on your health and restores harmony to your soul.

After leaving the Johannes Waterfall, you can return along the path which runs along the right side of the Gnadenalmboden.
Hike with lift ride to the Grünwaldsee
In just a few minutes, the Grünwaldkopf lift will carry you up to 2,000 m above sea level. Once at the top, you will see Grünwaldsee lake immediately. There, you will find rowing- and pedal boats to borrow for free. The Hochalm hut also stands right next to the lake, where you can enjoy small snacks if you wish. From here, you can set out on several different hikes, including the “3 Lakes Hike”.
Wagraini`s Grafenberg – exciting interactive hikes
In the mood to experience and understand nature with all of your senses? To discover fascinating facts about native wildlife? To enjoy action, exercise and lots of open spaces? High on the mountain, though easy to reach: “WAGRAINi’s Grafenberg” – a world of nature and mountain adventures.
Take a comfortable, effortless ride on the Grafenberg lift up to an elevation of 1700 meters, where your adventure begins: From the Grafenberg, you will go by raft or a footbridge to the “Busy Bee” theme path, then continue down the Hachau Slide to a low-ropes course. Hike to the Bürgerbergalm
Peaceful and in the middle of a forest clearing, with open panoramic views of Radstadt and the surrounding mountains. This is the Bürgerbergalm.
Guests and locals are warmly invited to eat and celebrate in this traditional atmosphere. Enjoy sunny hours over lunchtime and into the afternoon, along with high-spirited folk evenings.
A short, easy hike will lead you from Radstadt to the Bürgerbergalm (ca. 1 hr.). A clearly signposted hiking path (No. 462) continues to the summit of our famous local mountain, the Rossbrand.
Naturally, you can also drive by car via a well-maintained road leading up to the Bürgerbergalm.
Excursions for Families
Four worlds of adventure in Alpendorf, in St. Johann im Pongau: Awaken the talking haunted gate, then – together with two friendly ghosts, Gspensti & Spuki – explore the 4 spooky realms of the Earth Spirits, Fire Spirits, Water Spirits and Air Spirits.
A unique landscape, with the steep rock face of Hellbrunn Mountain on the one side and hilly countryside dropping down to riparian woodlands on the other, is home to around 1200 wild animals in Salzburg Zoo. Animal species, both native and exotic – from alpine ibex to zebra mongoose – live in near-natural enclosures on around 14 hectares of grounds.
Life-size figures, an imposing defensive tower and playfully designed displays make this lovingly restored castle an exciting interactive museum. Numerous play opportunities for children as well as a big medieval adventure playground, plus the chance to get dressed up in period costume!
An “airy” experience awaits visitors to over 900-year-old Hohenwerfen Castle. The feathered hunters of the historic State Falconer, the collection of bladed weapons, the museums and dark corners of the castle, all invite you to take the thick walls of Hohenwerfen by storm. An impressive bird-of-prey show is put on by the State Falconer. Falcons, vultures, eagles and other native birds-of-prey show of their aviation skills several times a day.
Unique, gigantic, and rightfully one of the most popular attractions in Salzburg for many decades.
Embark on a treasure hunt into Hallein Salt Mine. In earlier times, salt was known as “white gold”. And indeed, the salt deposits deep within the Dürrnberg outside Hallein, formed millions of years ago, were essentially the treasure chamber of the Salzburg region. Some 2500 years ago, the Celts were already mining this valuable gift of the mountain, a fact documented by the impressive traces they left behind. In this, the oldest publicly accessible mine in the world, visitors big and small (ages 4 and up) can explore this fascinating realm – through ancient mine galleries penetrating deep into the heart of this mystical mountain…
